Heel pain that has outlasted rest, insoles and stretching
Plantar fasciitis is the classic sharp heel pain with the first steps in the morning that eases as you warm up and returns after sitting or at the end of a long day. The plantar fascia, the thick band under the foot, has become irritated and its tissue has stopped repairing itself. Because the fascia has a poor blood supply, the problem often lingers for months.
Focal shockwave therapy is one of the best-studied treatments for chronic plantar fasciitis, and it is the core of how we treat heel pain at Biodynamic Therapies.
Common signs
- Stabbing pain under the heel with the first steps of the day
- Pain after standing for long periods or after exercise, not usually during it
- Tenderness where the arch meets the heel, sometimes with a tight calf and Achilles
- Symptoms that have lasted more than six weeks despite rest and new footwear
How we treat plantar fasciitis
Focal Shockwave Therapy delivers precise acoustic energy to the irritated fascia, restarting the healing response and breaking the pain cycle. Radial Pressure Wave Therapy releases the tight calf and plantar muscles that keep pulling on the heel. Class IV Laser Therapy reduces inflammation between shockwave sessions, and Osteopathy corrects the foot, ankle and hip mechanics that overloaded the fascia in the first place.
Most patients need three to five shockwave sessions, a week apart. Many feel a difference after the first one.
What to expect
We confirm the diagnosis, check the calf, Achilles and lower limb, and begin treatment on your first visit. Shockwave is mildly uncomfortable for a few minutes and needs no anaesthetic or downtime. You can walk out and carry on with your day. We will also adjust your footwear and loading habits so the fascia can recover.
