Holistic healing from traditional wisdom and modern evidence
Traditional Chinese Medicine is a complete system of healthcare practised for thousands of years. At Biodynamic Therapies, Christian Pinnau, R.TCMP and R.Ac, combines acupuncture and herbal medicine as a gentle approach that supports the body’s own healing by balancing energy, improving circulation and addressing root causes rather than only symptoms.
In Ontario, Registered Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners are regulated primary health care providers. That means you can come to Christian directly, without a referral, for concerns well beyond pain: colds and flus, stress, anxiety and low mood, sleep problems, digestive trouble, menstrual and hormonal health, and general wellbeing. TCM complements the other therapies we offer and can be safely combined with Western medicine.
How acupuncture works
Very fine needles are placed at specific points along the meridians, the pathways through which Qi, or vital energy, flows. Stimulating these points relieves pain, reduces stress and anxiety, improves circulation and immune function, and helps regulate the hormonal, digestive, respiratory and reproductive systems. Most patients feel a mild prick followed by warmth, tingling or deep relaxation.
Acute concerns such as nausea or pain often improve within 1 to 3 sessions; chronic or complex conditions typically need 6 to 12 sessions over several weeks.
How herbal medicine works
Herbal formulas are built from roots, seeds, flowers and other natural materials, customized to your symptoms and to pulse and tongue diagnosis, then adjusted as you improve. Taken as teas, powders or capsules, they aim to correct internal imbalances rather than suppress symptoms.
